The things you can do to a 1.6 MPI to increase your hp and torque are expensive. In fact you can do old school tuning by modifying your camshafts or upgrade to a higher piston displacement - just what you can do to every engine. All this tuning arrangements are expensive and don't bring the results you are hoping for.
I also think, if you want a faster and more powerful car then you have to buy an appropriate one.
A Carisma isn't a sports-car. Sorry.

Try to get a engine of COLT GTI. It's an 1.6 Turbo or Bi Turbo and it fits perfect in the 1600ccm Carisma. Costs are about 5000 Euro for the engine itself.

No the colt GTI is ah 1800ccm non-Turbo!
In the UK or australia, japan where sold the Colt Cj0 Cyborg its ah 1600ccm MIVEC engine with 175HP with non-Turbo you can buy ah fruntcut of this car on go-performance.de the engine works plug&play because the ECU and the ECU-cables inculded in the price!

2. alternativ is the Lancer GSR engine its ah 1800ccm turbo engine withe 192hp
the engine has ah 4wheel transmission but you can also use ah 2WD transmisson!
you can also buy the engine @ go-performance.de

you might also try using a throttle flap and injectors from a Colt GTI (1800 ccm engine) or a Proton 318 (basically the same.) the engine will develope more torque and respond faster. you might have to run it with no idle control (when cold) because the bypasses dont fit that easy on the new flap.

At go-performance.de you can also buy custom exhaust-manifolds.
Both together should get you going at about 110 instead of 90 whp with the torque increased to roughly 160 nm. you also might go for a complete custom exhaust system, i.e. by burdinski.

the lancer gsr engine (4g93 with turbocharger) might be the best choice for you because the carisma is fit for all engines up to 4g93 (1800ccm). the strut under the engine is the same with all engines between 4g13 and 4g92. you might need new engine rests (bearings whatever... those rubber thingies the engine sits on)

you can take the 2wd transmission from a 4g13 (very short), 4g92 or 4g93 engine as used in the colt cj0 or carisma. the transmission housing is basically the same.
getting a shorter ratio by installing a transmission from a 4g13-engine is often found in colt cj0 models.

consider that you will have to find some space for the oil cooler and intercooler when you use a supercharged engine. the mivec doesn´t deliver enough torque (imo) for a heavy car like the carisma.

the colt gti engines wont work because they are set up the wrong way. the transmission is on the right side with these engines. in your carisma, it´s on the left side.

what might work is a v6 from various galant EA0 or sigma models. (might be called "shogun" where you live.) but that much weight would mean raping your suspension. vr4 or evo engines might also fit.

besides: don´t even think of supercharging your 4g92. you won´t get it running stable unless you invest shitloads of money in pistons, struts, and piston cooling (if even possible)
