Well... Don't know exactly, but if you are going to buy new wheels, you should have 205. Looks much better, and the wheelhouse tuning isn't that expensive.

If you lower the car by springs or stuff, you have to tune the wheelhouse, even with 195.

Limits are hard to describe. Normal wheels are 16" with 205 tires. Once a guy had 19" wheels, but therefor you have to do a lot of work at the wheelhouses and your springs must be harder than hard, you know.

I think with normal wheelhouse tuning and a good suspension, 17" with 205 are quite possible.

You should do it, if you have sport springs or stuff.

But

You shouldn't do it, if you are not a professional. Ask a garage or something to do that. Many garages do that. You need a special tool to tune the wheelhouse. I found some pictures, that might help me explaining it.

The tool is as mounted as the wheel as you can see. There is a kind of arm that crimps the inner part of the wheelhouse a little bit to the inside of the wheelhouse.

I'll draw a little bit ^^ I think it's understandable.

Hehe, I don't understand 100% but thanx for the pics:D

If I want to do it I will give mitsu cars dealer to do it!

By the way, I spoke with mitsu and according to them I can buy 205's without tuning the wheelhous, is that possible?

Wait, i can tell you about sizes that stand in my "Zulassungsbescheinigung".

185/65R14 86H 5,5Jx14 ET44
195/60RR14 86V 5,5Jx14 ET44
205/50R15 86H 6Jx15 ET44

So, i think that sizes should fit on the carisma without doing any bodywork.

The size of the rim is important for this claim. If you have a 16"x6 rim, a 205 tire would fit without tuning the wheelhouse. At a rimsize of 16"x7,5 you [u]must[/] tune the wheelhouse.

Razorblade & xx_angel77_xx, thank you for your answers guys!

Sorry for asking to much but as you may know I'm a new Mitsu owner wich I'm very proud of! B)

I have another small question regarding rim size, what's the differance between 16''*6,0's and *7,5's? What does the "6,0 and 7,5" mean? I mean how do I know if a 205/45 R16 tyre fit a specific rim?

Best rgds Housh!

The second figure is the width of the rim. 205 is the width of the tyre, but for the rims, there is an own value. Its measured in inch. Like the diameter of the rim.

Roger that thank you, btw my friend, you said something about:

185/65R14 86H 5,5Jx14 ET44
195/60RR14 86V 5,5Jx14 ET44
205/50R15 86H 6Jx15 ET44

Can't I use 16'' rims? Is 15 the MAX?

I made some pics again ^^

Easier for me to explain.

Lets take the first wheel combo to explain the values.

185/65R14 86H 5,5Jx14 ET44

The picture of the tire on the rim:

185 = green line, width
65 = blue line, height
R14 = red line, size of inner diameter and " of the rim

The picture of the rim without a tire:

5,5J = green line, width
14 = red line, " of the rim
ET = blue line
44 = value of the blue line

Do you come along with theese explainations? I could go more in detail, if it's needed.

205/45R16 7,5Jx16 is my combo. It's pretty common for the old modell of Carisma.
